Background
Hyperloop One asked for a sleek ticketing prototype that they could show off at an investor event. But at this stage, demonstrating the revolutionary potential of the hyperloop system was more important than simply showing a ticketing feature. We needed to showcase the hyperloop’s transformative impact on urban connectivity.

Solutions
During an intense brainstorming session, a developer’s comment sparked a pivotal idea: the hyperloop system effectively shrinks distances between cities, making regional travel as convenient as a neighborhood commute. Now, the idea for going to dinner in Las Vegas if you lived in Los Angeles wasn’t wild. It was a 20 min ride. This was the value that the prototype needed to showcase.
The final mobile prototype incorporates several cool features including ticketing, route planning, group trip organization, multi-modal routes, and bespoke tour recommendations.
But the real star, in my mind, is the temporal map. Once you slide the time available into “hyperloop time,” taking advantage of a ride in the hyperloop, the map morphs to show cities as neighborhoods.
Impact
The prototype was a highlight at the investor event, effectively showcasing the hyperloop system’s value and generating significant excitement.
Our work on this concept design led to many more projects with Hyperloop One including continued refinements on this rider app, an AI-powered simulation software, and their back office software suite.
